African Fusion March 2019

ESAB is featured on our first cover for 2019, with hardfacing solutions from its Stoody and EWAC acquisitions the focus of the ESAB cover story.

In the SAIW section of the magazine, we attend the SAIW hosted fracture and fatigue seminar by professor Adolf Hobbacher; and talk to Mark Digby about the Institute’s new phased array NDT course.

The technical paper comes from Sheffield University, where observations of novel weld-pool activity during TIG welding in the 300 to 1 000 A range have been observed.

Our SAIW member profile comes from Hlakani Engineering and we include industry success stories from Cosmo Engineering at Tsipe Engineering; Afrox and its shielding gases; Castolin Eutectic; and Babcock, which is celebrating 25 years for its fabrication facility.
