The Industrial Test Reactor (ITR) facility during operation at the Pering Mine, Reivilo, South Africa. The plant was constructed to test materials of construction and provide scale-up criteria for development of the BioCOPTM Process for high temperature (80 deg C) bioleaching of mineral sulfide concentrates.
The ITR operation was a great success leading to the successful construction and commissioning of the Bio COPTM Prototype Plant (producing 20 000 tpa copper) at Chuquicanata, Chile in December 2003.
