June 2002

Komatsu's new GALEO series GD655-3 grader promises to be a winner. The most advanced grader in its class, Komatsu's GD655-3 will set a new standard in the local construction market when it makes its South African debut in September 2002.
Komatsu Southern Africa is to introduce a state-of-the-art, high performance medium-to-large motor grader, dedicated for use mainly in the construction industry - the all new Komatsu GD655-3 unit - with an operating mass of 17 142kg.
The new model will put the company in head-on competition with the major suppliers of the 17-18t class grader and will result in improved penetration by Komatsu in this market sector due to technological improvements and increased performance capabilities.
The new machine, intended specifically for the construction market where the highest performance specs are demanded, has been developed in Japan as part of Komatsus new GALEO series of construction and mining products, which are superior to equivalent class opposition machines currently on offer.
