Emergency 'foldaway house' pleases Minister
Speaking at the end of November last year at the launch of the foldaway house by the Zululand Chamber of Business, Housing Minister Lindiwe Sisulu stated that the concept of the house is a celebration of innovation in a problem solving, entrepreneurship and the triumph of the human spirit. The 'foldaway house' was initiated by the Tahzade Disaster Management and the Zululand Chamber of Business Foundation, which teamed up with entrepreneur Rajan Harinarain, after a fire destroyed the KwaMbonambi informal settlement
New rental units to be built in Alexandra
Building contractor Grinaker-LTA moved on site in December last year to commence the construction of 13 walkup rental clusters at Alexandra's Far East Bank. The project forms part of the Gauteng Department of Housing's Alexandra Renewal Programme
