Government has spent R2,5 billion on upgrading Alexandra township, next door to the prestigious Sandton business node and residential moneyed belt, but did the revival fail or succeed?
Housing in Southern Africa toured the township. Minister of Human Settlements, Tokyo Sexwale, got hot under the collar when he was linked to an intelligence report, so armed with his legal team, the Minister protested his innocence.
On a brighter note, government has increased the Department of Human Settlements budget to R122 billion for the current tax year. And an additional R22,3 billion will be spent on upgrading South Africa's secondary roads.
