Housing in Southern Africa's September issue is packed with great information and affordable housing projects.

Acutts Motlekar Joint Venture will roll out 18 000 units each year with construction giant, Group Five.

A new R150 million affordable lifestyle development in Stellenbosch will provide 141 sectional title apartments as well as free standing homes. The first units will be handed over in October.

Midrand's economic expansion has generated demand for housing units in the area and Juskei View, a new greenfield residential project, will provide 715 units.

Property data group, Lightstone, has revealed that young professionals are buying property in Joburg's inner city precinct.

In Cape Town, Vanguard Village in the southern suburbs is the first affordable housing lifestyle development in the Heideveld area.


Crystal Park

Acutts Motlekar aims to bring 18 000 affordable housing units to the market each year. The joint venture between the Acutts Property Group and African investment holding company, Motlekar Holdings, will create a R5 billion boost for the South African economy. Construction company, Group Five will build the units.

 

Affordable winelands housing

Nuutgevonden, a R150 million affordable lifestyle development in Stellenbosch will provide 141 sectional title apartments, 34 semi-detached units and 18 free standing homes. Construction has commenced on the site, which is 4 km from Stellenbosch's town centre. The first sectional title apartment block units will be handed over during October 2012.


Midrand's greenfield project

The City of Tshwane, Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni Municipality all have a vested interest in Midrand's thriving economy. With rapid expansion, the demand for affordable housing has increased and Jukskei View, a new green field housing development, will provide 715 residential units.

 

Inner city residential - snapped up by under 35s

Joburg's inner city rejuvenation programme is well underway and with the newly opened Gautrain Park Station, residential property in the city centre business node is enjoying a strong revival. Data Research specialist group, Lightstone, says that nearly 45% of recent buyers in the City and Braamfontein are under the age of 35. This shows that many up-and-coming young professionals and entrepreneurs are purchasing properties in the city precinct.

 

Cape Town's affordable southern suburbs

Vanguard Village, located in Cape Town's southern suburbs, will provide 270 housing opportunities. The development, located on the corner of Vanguard and Klipfontein roads, will be the first affordable housing lifestyle development in the Heideveld area. The project has a political champion in local councillor, Anthony Moses, as well as the ratepayers' association, who have been very supportive of the development.

Aruba Eco Building Systems launched their ‘mini home' to illustrate how efficient Insulated Concrete Form construction works. Aruba has built over 2 000 homes in South Africa so far.
