Bauma 2016 features prominently this month. Being one of the largest exhibitions of construction and mining equipment in the global arena, bauma creates a stage for the launch of new innovations and designs from manufacturers.
‘Bigger and better’ appeared to have been the theme this year with the launch of the two biggest articulated dump trucks from Bell Equipment and Volvo Construction Equipment.
The truck companies were not outdone by the yellow metal industry as MAN Truck and Bus showed their mettle with a range of heavy duty construction and mining vehicles.
Nampo 2016 receives significant coverage for their 50th year. The show showcases the agricultural sector with all the innovative machinery available for the farming community. Farming methods have changed rapidly over the years and with labour being at a premium, the latest mechanical methods will be in the forefront of the show. Smaller and more versatile equipment such as Bobcat and Wacker Neusen, once used by the contracting industry, has found its way into farming for many of the labour intensive tasks like loading and trenching.
The bi-monthly Work@Height newsletter, focuses largely on safety. This is a major cause for concern in the industry on a global scale.
Transport and logistics appears to be maintaining its level of activity with Hino making some positive predictions towards 2020 and Mercedes-Benz maintaining their lead with the handover of a large fleet to Bakers Transport in Pietermaritzburg .
