Electricity and Control July 2016SEZ who?

Ever heard of a SEZ? A Special Economic Zone. According to a recent African Independent report by Wil Huang, ‘SEZs are the way to go for South Africa’. The South African government intends to enhance collaboration in the development of industrial production capabilities by establishing industrial parks, clusters technology parks, engineering centres, and SEZs, as well as providing engineering and technical training.

The SEZ concept has been successful in China and is seen to be a positive move in African countries becoming industrialised. SEZ is related to the concept of the Industrial Development Zone (IDZ)... the success of which can be seen in places such as Coega, for example. This would be great way of addressing lack of education and unemployment... and would surely be good for a country that is in desperate need of having its spirit lifted.

SEZ who...you may rightly wonder? Well, it comes from the top! President Zuma... in his speech at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (December 2015).

Until next time.
