BEKA Schréder, a leading local manufacturer of LED luminaires, is proudly partnering with the City of Tshwane to host the Tshwane Green Ride 2016.

On 29 October, the City of Tshwane will be hosting the annual Tshwane Green Ride, which is a cycling event with the purpose of mobilising communities to consider alternative transport, incite and promote cycling infrastructure while at the same time promoting healthy lifestyles through cycling. This cycling event is part of the Tshwane Green Outreach Programme, and falls within the 2016 National Transport Month.

The objective of the ride is to demonstrate that cycling as a mode of transport can be used in any environment (namely, it should not be treated as an elite sport only) and to highlight the importance of appropriate infrastructure so people from all walks of life have the choice of cycling, whether for recreational purposes or as a safe form of commuting.

The 30 km ride will start at 7 am on Saturday, 29 October, at the Central Sports Grounds, adjacent to the HM Pitje Stadium, in Mamelodi West, and will be in the form of a leisurely family fun ride.

For children, there will be a kids’ corner with a jumping castle, mini tennis and face-painting. For older people, senior services will be available where pensioners can have essential health checks, such as diabetes and blood pressure. And for those not cycling, there will be aerobics sessions and a fun run.
