Another first for Goodyear - Goodyear SA recently installed a new cable-tensioning unit at its plant in Uitenhage. The equipment, the first of its kind in the country, prevents vertical displacement and pairing caused by unevenly tensioned cables lifting out of spacer combs. BR> An example of this technology is providing maximum benefit at Kangra Coal Mine in Driefontein. The belt is 6,5 kilometers long with a 75m drop from loading to discharge running a belt of 13 kilometers. The belt is 900mm in width with a low-rolling resistance bottom cover. Carrying 1000 tons/h and travelling at 5,57m p/s, it is one of the fastest overland belts in the country.
