Mechanical Technology

March 2003

Locally designed and manufactured ultra light aircraft Thunderbird MK II is a 3 axis Microlight aircraft designed and manufactured by Davies Aircraft Corporation using Solid Edge 3D design software and the latest CNC machining and laser cutting CNC bending technology. Davies Aircraft Corporation manufactures a wide range of thunderbird aircraft from tricycle undercarriage to float planes with 2 stroke and 4 stroke engines.
These aircraft are used in general aviation and commercial applications, crop spraying, game counting and security patrol.
With all aircraft design, mass properties, centre of gravity and high tolerance precision components are required. Technical illustrations for maintenance and inspection manuals are of vital importance. Solid Edge with its ease of use was chosen as it includes all the above capabilities plus automatic 'Bill of Materials', revision management and electronic 'sign off'.
