Mechanical Technology - June 2004

June 2004

Johannesburg manufacturer, Conductor Systems, designs, assembles and commissions electrical conductor systems and motorised cable reelling drums that power mobile, electrically operated machines such as stacker/reclaimers, container cranes and overhead cranes. An integral part of a recent restructuring programme at the company was the introduction of the model-based mechanical design technology, Autodesk Inventor Series.

The technology has helped Conductor Systems shrink its design cycle, improve response time to client enquiries, slash prototyping and raw material costs and streamline manufacturing processes. Reflected on the cover are engineering models of Conductor Systems' cable reeling drums, created in Autodesk Inventor, together with images of equipment in different applications.
