Metal heat treatment company P H Heat Treatment, through an exclusive ilcence agreement with Nitrex Metal Inc of Montreal Canada, has acquired and installed a fully automatic, closed-loop, computer-controlled Nitrex nitriding plant from Canada, and has acess to the skills, resources, and experience of the Nitrex team in Canada.

""Through out agreement with Nitrex, we plan to revolutionise the business of nitriding in South Africa,"" says P H Heat Treatment managing director Cecil Zlotnick.

""The Nitreg family of processes has the unique ability to precisely control the depth and composition of the nitride layer. Lack of precise control often leads to over or under nitriding, causing failure of components due to spalling and inconsistent quality.""

The company also has the following conventional haet treatment processes on offer: case hardening; hardening and tempering; normalising and annealing; and carbon restoration. Its new processes to combat wear and corrosion include the Beta, Alpha Plus, Alpha SQ and sealbond processes.
