""Like the multiple Ballroom and Latin Dance World champions, Jukka Haapalainen & Sirpa Surrtari-Jaasko, who make complex dance sequences look so simple and routine, the world of champions of variable speed drives, ABB, make control of speed, torque and motion control look simple and routine thanks to their new Machinery drive.""

ABB has designed a new drive which it claims is the most adaptable in the market, allowing control of synchronous or asynchronous motors, either open loop or closed loop. With the new drive, machinery builders need only specify one drive for a variety of motor types along with appropriate feedback device, depending on the application.

The benefits of the global concept of efficiency
Although millions of rands are spent annually on investments, maintenance, monitoring and repair activities, and electricity costs related to industrial processes and applications, downtime production costs are still present. The only solution is to apply a new global concept of efficiency (GCEff) which must be included at all horizontal and vertical hevels (technical, economical, financial, etc), throughout an organisation.
