Mechanical Technology - January 2010

January 2010

Welcome to 2010 and what a relief it is to have 2009 behind us. Mechanical Technology has begun the year determined and committed to raising the profile of successful and responsible South African engineering companies. Editorial in our January issue features local divisions of some of the world’s best – ABB, SKF, Hatch, Festo, Nissan and Volvo – as well as some of our own proudly South African global success stories – BMG Hydraulics, Macsteel VRN, Kew Foundries and OE Bearings.

All are reporting a more positive outlook for 2010 and beyond. Times have undoubtedly changed, but the future engineering challenges, regardless of the prevailing economic climate, will remain. Infrastructure upgrading is long overdue, both in South Africa and north of our borders, and is set to remain so for many years after the 2010 Fifa world cup has been decided.

We would like to recommit to publishing success stories, product offerings, and any newsworthy articles, press releases, or interviews in support of local industry. We believe it important to better inform all those involved in the mechanical engineering trades about local engineering possibilities and best practices. We look forward to 2010 and the opportunities it offers us to tell your stories.
