Complicated geodesic dome lift

Target Cranes has completed a precedent-setting heavy lift for Active Mechanical Services Group (AMS) in the Western Cape.
The contract called for the lifting of a 37 t geodesic dome and placing it atop a recently refurbished oil storage tank. The aluminium dome, with a 54 m diameter, will serve as a covering for the oil tank to protect its contents from the elements. The geodesic shaped dome allows any condensation or rainwater to flow naturally to the edge of the dome and down the sides of the oil tank.

Target Cranes was selected to perform the lift because of its expertise with similar, complicated lifts. In addition, the company has the most comprehensive mobile crane fleet in South Africa, totalling more than 70 modern, well-serviced mobile cranes with lifting capacities from 8-600 t.
