• Dynamic Fluid Control has bought RF Technologies, a leading USA-based pinch valve manufacturer with an established global presence. The purchase, which includes RF Technologies' wholly owned Finnish subsidiary, follows DFC's acquisition in mid-2008 of local company Insamcor.
• General Motors and its strategic partner, Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. Group (SAIC), share a common vision for addressing the need for personal mobility through a radical change in personal urban transportation. They are exploring several solutions for tomorrow's drivers. Among the most promising is a new vehicle form called EN-V.
• Multilayer Trading, well-known warehouse and distribution company, specialising in the textile industry, has taken delivery of eight new Doosan diesel forklifts from Goscor Lift Truck Company (GLTC).
• Chery, the leading independent automotive brand in China and that country's biggest vehicle exporter, will invest R2.5-billion in research and development (R&D) in 2010. This is equivalent to 4.4% of the company's total annual revenue and is a strong indicator of Chery's commitment to increasing its sales to at least 700 000 units this year with a stretched target of 900 000 vehicles.
• Elquip Solutions, a leading local provider of electrical, automation, mechanical and consumable products, continues to successfully distribute Polish company Relpol's automation products to the local South African market. Relpol is an expert manufacturer of contactors and electromagnetic relays.
