IAIA's mission is to advance innovation, development and dissemination of best practice in environmental impact assessment, management and policy throughout the world. The South African Chapter, IAIAsa presents the Premium Award annually as a means of recognising excellence in environmental management through the application of the principles of Integrated Environmental Management. The award is presented for a policy, programme, process, project or operation that has been developed, planned and managed for the benefit of the social and environmental sustainability. Previous award winners include: the Hillside Aluminum Smelter Expansion Project; the Richards Bay Skorpion Zinc Mine and Refinery; the Namibia Sasol Gas Pipeline; the Resettlement Relocation Action Plan for Nandoni Dam; the Pezula Private Estate; and the Berg River Water Project.
This year we will look at two categories of project, namely large projects and small-medium scale projects to broaden the scope for the Awards. We invite you to enter your nomination for the IAIAsa Premium Award 2010 if you have been involved in, or know of a project that meets the requirement of excellence in environmental management.
