The University of the Witwatersrand Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment - School of Architecture and Planning has a vacancy for an associate researcher/researcher, part time appointment for three years.

The Associate Researcher or Researcher would work with the South African Research Chair in Development Planning and Spatial Modelling on Urban Spatial Change in the Gauteng City Region. The position requires academic background and experience in a field which may include urban studies, urban planning, development planning, architecture, urban sociology or urban politics. 

The suitable candidate should have a degree in an appropriate discipline and some evidence of research skills and potential as a researcher. Postgraduate degrees and professional registration would be an advantage. Researcher: Minimum of a Masters Degree and evidence of competence as a researcher. Teaching experience and professional registration would be an advantage.

This is a three-year grant-funded position but high performance in the position may open future possibilities for the appointee. The position is advertised as 50% time as the appropriate candidate may wish to continue, to some extent, professional and other work.
