Kumba Resources is to take delivery of an eighth Condra crane, this one a high-lift maintenance machine for the crusher at the Sishen South expansion project. Completed in early June as a 110 t unit with 25 t auxiliary hoist, modifications to brakes and frequency drives are currently under way to deliver additional lift margin by up-rating the primary capacity to 120 t.
Sishen's newest crane features a 16 m span, a 46 m lift height, and an increased rope safety factor of 6,5. There are fully lit, lifeline-equipped, full-length walkways along both girders.
