The prize-giving and dinner were held at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club on the 22nd June 2011.

Jenny Warwick filled us in on the history of the magazine and the Awards.

Prof Philip de Vaal, HOD at UP, with Prof Thokozani Majozi and Sheldon Beangstrom, winner of the Undergraduate Award.

Tebogo Phetla of UJ won the Water category sponsored by Anglo American Research; Bronwynne Ferreira and Nico Groenewald attended as representatives.

The Postgraduate Award sponsored by Vega Instruments SA, was won by joint winners from UCT: left to right are John Groom, MD of Vega, Dyllon Randall, who with Jeeten Nathoo (absent) and Prof Alison Lewis (extreme right) co-authored one winning paper; and Alexander Hesketh (second from right), author of the second winning paper, co-supervised by Dr Jennifer Broadhurst and Prof Sue Harrison, both absent.
