Bateman Filter Systems for Kusile

Simatek 4T filters similar to those that will be installed at Kusile Power Station.

Bateman Engineered Technologies (BET) has won an order to supply, through Bateman Africa, Eskom's Kusile Power Station, 11 reverse pulse bagfilters and associated equipment, including inter-connecting ducting and exhaust fans, as part of the dust solution for the terrace/boiler house, coal handling and stockyard 500 t silo.

Jimmy Tomlin BET Air Environmental manager says that at the heart of the system are the Bateman/Simatek Pulse Jet filters known worldwide for their superior design and efficiency. "With more than 7 000 installed in various applications, these filters are especially suitable for high dust loads, which are expected at this installation" says Tomlin.

Some of the Bateman/Simatek filters' important features include: tangential top inlets, low energy consumption, low compressed air consumption, down-flow filtration for optimum filtration of sub micron particles and longer bag-life.

In November 2010 Bateman Africa was awarded three separate materials handling ‘work packages' by Eskom - terrace handling system, stockyard handling system and the limestone handling facility - for the Kusile Power Station.

BET is experienced in dust control in a range of applications in the mining, power generation, cement, general industrial and a host of other industries. When recommending a filtration system, it draws on its extensive data base of its significant number of installations in and around southern Africa.
