MAY 2013
shows
Well, the construction and mining equipment
sectors can breathe easy for the next three years,
as the monster of all trade shows has passed.
bauma 2013 was a resounding success, making
up for the disappointing show at the 2010
‘volcano-sponsored’ event.
This year the OEMs came out in full force,
with exhibition stands showcasing innovations
and technological wonders and visitor records
breaking every previous Munich show.
The Liebherr stand not only blocked out the
skyline, but when I enquired as to whether it
had a zip code, I was informed by a grinning
representative, “No, two!” Word has it that the
suits in the upper levels could see the Alps from
their offices…
From a pink TLB, to choreographed ‘dancing’
equipment, to cranes supporting suspended
rides hanging over our heads, to monstrous
trucks and incredible equipment designs, it was
all there for the viewing.
The air of excitement bodes well for the future,
with every OEM interviewed, citing potential
growth and investment in the yellow metal
sector. 2013 looks as though it has set a
benchmark for future shows with the next
bauma Munich due in 2016. Be there!

in the contractor market, with three world premieres from Kleemann,
boasting high efficiency and versatility.
“This has been an absolutely positive trade show for us. We welcomed
customers from all around the world at our booths and we signed
