T
he Siemens DriveTechnologies Division has boos¬ted
the performance and user-friendliness of its high-end
CNC platformSinumerik 840D sl by equip¬ping it with new
hardware and software modules. Profinet is now provided
as standard to facilitate flexible communication. New
features in the Si¬numerik Operate user interface permit
consistent and efficient machine operation. The CNC control
is complemented by the Sinamics High Frequency Drive,
a high-performance and innovative drive, which sets itself
apart thanks to its compact design and optimised control
cabinet layout.
The Sinumerik 840D sl system platform from
Siemens
is used around the world in a variety of CNC machining
technologies, such as turning, drilling, milling, grinding,
laser-cutting, nibbling and stamping. It is also used in
multi-tasking machines, for instance, in mill-turning and
turn-milling applications.
Sinumerik 840D sl can be used for machines with up
to 93 axes as a result of the recently available NCU link
featuring safety functionality.
Further, with extremely short block cycle times of max.
0,4 ms, the CNC is an extremely powerful and precise
control which ensu¬res high workpiece quality for mould
building.
Not only this, Profinet is now available as standard for
all NCUs belonging to Sinumerik 840D sl (type 1B). This
allows Ethernet-based communication to be established
with larger quantity structures, increased performance and
improved diagnostics.
With the Sinamics High Frequency Drive, Sinumerik
840D sl is complemented by a high-performance drive,
integra¬ted in the system, which can be incorporated very
simply into the drive line-up.
The drive is available in 80 kW and 120 kW versions
and, when compared to chassis solutions, features a very
compact design.
