Industry Automation Division
has extended its range of single-phase
power supplies. The Sitop smart product
family has been expanded with three single-
phase 24V power supplies with rated output
voltages of 2,5 A, 5 A and supplies with 7
A and 14 A. The output voltage of the new
PSU100S power supplies is adjustable over
a wide range from 24 to 28 V with the 24 V
power supplies and from 12 to 15,5V with the
12Vmodels. All devices can supply 1,5 times
the rated current for five seconds per minute,
to ensure problem-free starting for loads
that draw a high current. The 24 V versions
even supply 120% rated current at ambient
temperatures up to 45˚C.The power supplies
of the Sitop smart product line are designed
for standard requirements in automated
machines and plants. As for the currently
available Sitop smart power supplies, the
new single-phase Sitop PSU100S power
supplies also feature a signalling contact
for evaluating the operating status ‘Output
voltage OK’. With widths of only 32,5 mm
(24 V/ 2,5 A), 50 mm (24 V/ 5 A and 12 V/ 7 A)
and 70 mm (24V/ 10 A and 12V/ 14 A) and no
sideways clearance requirements, the power
supplies require less space on the mount-
ing rail. These slim power supplies feature
automatic range switching for connection to
120 V and 230 V supply systems worldwide.
A radio suppression level of Class B and line
harmonic limiting also permit use on the
public low-voltage grid. Certification for GL
(Germanische Lloyd) for shipbuilding and
ATEX (Atmosphère Explosive) for hazardous
environments ensure that the power supplies
can be used universally. The new Siemens
power supplies can be used at ambient
temperatures from -10 and +70˚C and are
characterised by a high degree of efficiency
of up to 90%, which ensures only minimal
heat generation in the control cabinet. For
protection against faults in the network or
in the output circuit, Sitop add-on modules
offer enhanced protection for the 24V power
supplies, for example, through conversion
to an uninterruptible dc power supply or for
selectivity in 24 V feeders.

tto Marketing has announces the HiRose FH42 and FH43B Series
of miniaturised back flip FPC connectors. The FH42 Series features
11, 19, 23 and 31 contact positions, and has a height profile of 0,65
mm, double-sided leads and top contact, while the FH43B Series of-
fers 21, 25, 29, 31, 35, 41, 51, 61, 71 contact positions, 0.9mm height
and bottom contact. Both series are rated as 0.2A current rating and
30V voltage rating. Barry Culligan,
Otto Marketing
managing director
comments: “The FH42 series has been designed with space saving
in mind. The short mounting depth is only 3,08 mm which is one of
the world’s smallest mounting depths for a back-flip connector. The
low height profile is a mere 0,65 mm.”
Although compact in size the connector is easy to mount on the
PCB with double sided contacts. The fully enclosed moulded housing
structure conceals the exposure of contacts on the bottom face of the
connector allowing conductive traces to run underneath the connector.
Solder wicking is prevented by the application of a nickel barrier on the
contacts to prevent the travel of solder into the mating contact area.
The insertion of the FPC is user friendly due to the presence of the
wide housing entry and tapered contacts that allow the FPC to be
inserted from a steeper upright angle. This allows other components
to be placed closer to the connector entrance. In addition, it is also pos-
sible to insert the FPC horizontally due to the innovative side-catches
that have been designed with a curved surface to permit correct
positioning of the FPC. When the FPC travels over the side-catches
an audible and tactile click confirms correct mating.
Says Culligan: “The FH42 and FH43B connector series are ide-
ally suited for LCD displays, digital cameras, PDA’s, POS terminals
and many other small portable devices where its small size is very
advantageous.”

EAN WELL
has expanded their railway power supply family
by introducing the RSD-300 series (300 W). With the different
wattage models of 100W/150W/200W/300W, MEANWELL’s complete
product line of enclosed type single output dc/dc converters are able
to fulfil the various requirements of vehicle applications. Featuring 2:1
(±40%) wide input range and 4 000Vdc input/output isolation, RSD-300
series is characterised by 5G anti-vibration, wide range working tem-
perature of -40~+70˚, protection for short circuit, overload, output over
voltage, over temperature, and input reverse polarity, as well as a built-
in constant current limiting circuit and a 40 mm low profile design (1U
compliance). With a high efficiency circuit design, the RSD-300 series
possesses up to 91% high efficiency. The series is semi-encapsulated
for PCB protection to provide the basic functions of anti-moisture,
anti-dust, heat dissipation as well as anti-vibration.Therefore, cooling
can occur without any forced-air but still function between -40℃ to +70℃
ambient temperature which is suitable for a harsh environment. The
design of the new converters complies with ITE standards (IEC60950-1
and EN55022) and also with railway certificates (EN50155, IEC60571,
IEC61373, EN50121-3-2). The converters are suitable for use in vari-
ous makes of dc vehicles for railways, metro rapid transit systems,
subways, buses, leisure trailers and vessels. With external batteries
as the energy source, they are also suitable for harsh industrial in-
stallations with dust and moisture, such as security system, dc UPS
systems and telecoms
equipment.
