A first for Crown Publications
Crown Publications' Lighting in Design Pavilion at Decorex Joburg will set a new standard for the lighting industry in South Africa. More than 25 well known lighting companies will exhibit a wide range of lighting technologies - technical luminaires and lamps, designer luminaires and lighting components and accessories.
"This is the first time that an exhibition of this size - devoted entirely to the lighting industry and related design services - has been held in South Africa," says Jenny Warwick, publisher at Crown Publications.

Lighting industry bids a good friend farewell David Tavendale, operations manager at Genlux Lighting was tragically killed in a motor vehicle collision with his friend and colleague, JP Rowles. "His death is a loss to the lighting industry in South Africa," said Patrick Stuckie, IESSA's Johannesburg branch chairman. Personality of the Month Stephen Rogerson, general manager of Thorn Electrical, features as this month's personality of the month. Although a youngster compared to some of the industry stalwarts who have featured in this popular feature, he has that essential ‘spark' that defines him as one of the future key players in the electrical industry. Columns In Terry Mackenzie Hoy's column, ‘Working Knowledge' he says that sometimes a Certificate of Compliance requires the signature of the person responsible for the design.
He warns that if there is no ‘design' signature, the registered person takes responsibility for the design, and this can have dire consequences for the registered person should anything go wrong.
In his column, ‘On the Job', Lawrence Hillery takes another swipe at the Authorised Inspection Authorities, challenging readers to consider whether an installation is reasonably safe.
