A new voluntary organisation, the Electrical Registration and Inspection Council (ERIC) will be launched in August despite opposition from key stakeholders. The Department of Labour, the Electrical Contractor's Association (ECA) and the Association of Accredited Electgrical Inspection Bodies of South Africa (AAEIASA) have all distanced themselves from ERIC until it is recognised by government; and the AAEIASA has also voiced its concern about the use of the words ‘electrical registration and inspection council' saying they are "misleading".
