Aberdare Cables warns that inferior, low specification electrical wiring that does not meet SABS standards is being imported in increasing quantities into South Africa.

"This is a situation that can lead to unsafe and dangerous electrical wiring installations in homes and offices," says Annelene Sivalingum, marketing: branding and promotions manager of national cable manufacturer, Aberdare Cables.

"The real danger is that DIY buyers and perhaps even some contractors may not be aware that the products they are buying are not up to the laid down South African standards."
