October 2011

Schneider Electric South Africa has teamed up with the French ministry of education and the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) to launch a centre for the training of electricians, electrical technicians, and electrical engineers.

Named the French-South African Schneider Electric Training Centre, the new facility is in line with the Department of Higher Education and Training's vision of accelerating artisan training across the country.

This project enjoys the support of the Embassy of France in South Africa, under the auspices of its partnership programme with the South African government, aimed at addressing the shortage of young, skilled South Africans.

Personality of the Month

IAN Downard, sales director at Three-D Agencies, is a self-confessed gadget-aholic and he has every techno ‘toy' known to man. A skilled multi-tasker, he simultaneously operates his Apple Mac, ipad, three ipods and a cellular phone while having an intelligent conversation - all without missing a beat. His lively conversations are spiced with a hefty dose of good humour but this does not belie the fact that he is a compassionate man who is completely honest and believes in ‘telling it like it is'.
