FAW Trucks Southern Africa has reported exceptionally strong sales performance for December 2025, delivering 796 units and capping off a landmark year in which the company achieved total sales of 6 549 trucks across the Southern African market. The December figure represents the highest monthly volume in the company’s history in the region and reflects sustained demand for FAW’s diverse, locally assembled range amid challenging economic conditions.

The strong close to the year underscores FAW’s position as the fastest-growing commercial vehicle brand in South Africa, driven by a combination of product reliability, competitive total cost of ownership, and an expanding support ecosystem.
Last year was defined by several strategic milestones that strengthened FAW’s market presence and customer relationships:
- Product excellence & customer acclaim The JH6 500 and JH6 550 models received widespread praise from industry leading customers including Titan Cargo, Rubtrans, Platinum Energy, Trafalgar Logistics, Tron Logistics and Nepo Logistics for outstanding fuel efficiency (frequently exceeding 3 km/ℓ in real-world conditions), driver comfort, advanced safety features, and low maintenance costs. The introduction of the JK6 28.310 FD tipper range in May further expanded FAW’s agricultural offering, delivering purpose-built solutions for farmers across diverse terrains.
- Network expansion Five new dealerships opened in partnership with Laubstar Holdings (Lichtenburg, Potchefstroom, Upington, Kathu) and Stucky Motors Durban, while the flagship Cape Town branch in Kraaifontein was officially inaugurated in October, bringing enhanced 3S capability (Sales, Service, Parts) to the Western Cape.
- Regional leadership The Export Dealer Conference held in November at the Coega plant united more than 70 delegates from ten SADC and Indian Ocean countries to align on the 2026–2028 roadmap, including new product introductions, specification upgrades, expanded financial solutions, and major after-sales investments (new parts hubs in Lusaka and Maputo, expanded technician training, and 24/7 multilingual breakdown support).
- Customer loyalty & heritage FAW celebrated enduring partnerships and reflected on its deep integration into South African culture during Heritage Day, highlighting the evolution from three branches in 2010 to a network of 39 outlets across Southern Africa and export markets.
- Inclusivity & industry recognition Women’s Month activities spotlighted the growing contribution of female professionals in transport and logistics, with FAW proudly noting the roles of its numerous female staff members, including management levels.
Mr Xin Huang, COO of FAW Trucks Southern Africa, commented: “2025 was a defining year for FAW in Southern Africa. Achieving 5,868 units sold while simultaneously expanding our dealer footprint, launching purpose-built products, and deepening customer trust is a testament to the strength of our team, our partners, and the enduring appeal of vehicles engineered and assembled for African conditions. The exceptional December performance provides powerful momentum as we enter 2026 with an even stronger commitment to innovation, service excellence, and regional growth.”
Looking ahead, the South African transport and logistics sector is expected to maintain positive momentum in 2026. Industry forecasts indicate freight and logistics market growth at a CAGR of approximately 6.2–6.8% through the late 2020s, supported by reduced load-shedding, continued infrastructure upgrades (ports, rail, and roads), easing interest rates, lower inflation (projected to average around 3.3%), and the accelerating implementation of the AfCFTA. These factors are anticipated to stimulate fleet investment and cross-border trade, creating favourable conditions for demand in reliable, efficient commercial vehicles across logistics, mining, agriculture, and construction segments.
FAW Trucks Southern Africa thanks its customers, dealer network, and employees for their partnership throughout 2025 and looks forward to continuing to deliver world-class commercial vehicles and support in the year ahead.
