“Two key elements contribute greatly to the success of a shopping mall aside from its location and aesthetics – ample parking and safe walking areas to the mall entry points that offer safety, longevity and   durability,” said Izak van Niekerk, Owner, Van Niekerk Plant Hire.

Mahikeng Mall paving and kerbs supplied by Technicrete

To meet these two requirements Van Niekerk Plant Hire selected Technicrete Econo Pavers and Fig. 2 and Fig. 3 Kerbs for the parking and walking areas around the newly developed Mafikeng Mall, in the North West Province.

“Having established a long working relationship with the Polokwane branch of Technicrete, I know their product is a quality and lasting product. Technicrete’ s pavers and kerbs offer a safe and well suited integrated solution and are designed to withstand heavy vehicle and foot traffic. With the Mahikeng Mall parking and walkway areas comprising some 30 000 square metres, it was an obvious choice not only from an application and aesthetic perspective, but from a cost effective point of view due to the low maintenance requirements of the pavers and kerbs,” said Van Niekerk.

“When working on a site such as the Mahikeng Mall one also requires a supplier that gives the service you need, when you need it and I cannot fault the Technicrete team, they were on time, on schedule, “ concluded Van Niekerk.

Technicrete Sales Consultant, Ricky van Niebers said “Both our SANS and Econo Pavers and Kerbs have been designed and manufactured specifically for applications such as external walkways, parking facilities, pathways and industrial roads at both commercial and residential developments. The Econo 80 mm and 60 mm Pavers were therefore the perfect choice for a development such as the Mahikeng Mall and we are delighted to have established such a reputation within the North West region “.

Technicrete supplied 2 130 square metres of Econo Interlock 60 mm grey and 9 515 square metres of Econo Interlock 60 mm charcoal pavers as well as 5 446 metres of kerbs, consisting of Fig. 7 Kerbs (2 791 metres), Fig. 3 Kerb (589 metres) and Fig. 10 Kerb (2 066 metres).

It is used where there is a footpath adjacent to the road for better pedestrian protection “commented van Niebers.

Technicrete offers both SANS certified and Econo Pavers available in different sizes thicknesses (50mm, 60mm and 80mm) and colours, allowing for customisation to suit specific project needs. The company also provides technical assistance to clients to ensure the right products are selected and installed correctly.
