With its admin, store and workshop previously housed in three separate premises, the consolidation of Ptytrade 228, Switchgear Unlimited and Flameproof Manufacturing at a 2400m2 facility just 3 km away at 85 First Street in Boksburg North promises many benefits for customers. “As digital as the world is today, having the divisions in separate buildings just didn’t work out, plus we were running out of space. The move has added a further 1000m2 of space for us to utilise, and having our panel building division and stores connected is already proving beneficial,” says owner Brendon Chalmers. “I actually looked at this property two years ago and thought it would be too big, however, we are already utilising the majority of the space.”
With the company’s panel building and switchgear divisions showing substantial growth, space requirements and more stockholding were necessary, however it is the synergies between all parts of the business which are already paying off, including a quicker turnaround time. “I also now have a much tighter understanding of what is going on,” explains Chalmers. “I allow my staff to do what they are good at, but I am now able to fix things before they become a major problem. I can easily walk from my desk to dispatch or the workshop to lend a hand.”
