New curved lighting has been installed on the iconic Skegness seafront. The £400,000 scheme will 'revolutionize' the area, according to East Lindsey District Council. The lights will create a variety of themed projection light shows using "state of the art LED colour changing lighting and image projection". Officials say it will also improve street lighting in the area.
The first two have now been installed - with more to come at a later date. A spokesperson for East Lindsey District Council said: "Last week our contractors working on the refurbishment of Tower Esplanade, Skegness, took the first delivery of the iconic curved eight metre lighting structures with the first two being installed in November.
The new lighting will be completed by J. McCann & Co, who delivered 'The Brilliance Project' in Blackpool, and supplied by D.W Windsor. 'The Brilliance Project' delivered a similar, curved lighting system into the centre of Blackpool. Lisa Collins, Lincolnshire Coastal Destination BID Manager, said: "The new lighting scheme is a very welcome addition and will become a feature in its own right with its ability to use projection as well as lighting.”
