Energy storage solution provider Trina Storage has completed a major upgrade to its smart integration factory in Chuzhou, China, strengthening its manufacturing capabilities to meet growing global demand for utility-scale energy storage systems.

The upgraded facility features enhanced automation and digitalisation across core processes, from cell production and module assembly to containerised system integration and testing. The improvements have delivered significant performance gains, with automation levels increasing by 23%, overall production efficiency improving by 50%, and testing speed rising by more than 60%.
Digital integration drives efficiency
The factory upgrade centres on end-to-end automation supported by industrial IoT platforms that enable real-time data flow and intelligent coordination across production, logistics, and quality assurance functions. The integration of ERP and MES systems has further enhanced visibility and agility in daily operations.
To ensure consistent product quality and safety, the facility implements a comprehensive traceability framework covering process design, equipment maintenance, energy use, and logistics. This enables full product tracking and early risk detection throughout the manufacturing process.
Meeting accelerating market demand
The enhancements come as global demand for energy storage continues to accelerate. Trina Storage's energy storage systems have been deployed across key markets worldwide, with cumulative shipments surpassing 10 GWh by the end of 2024. The company projects annual shipments of 8-10 GWh for 2025.
Currently operating with 16 GWh of production capacity, Trina Storage plans to scale up to 25 GWh by the end of 2025 to align with growing demand for clean and reliable energy storage solutions.
"The smart integration factory upgrade represents more than just a technological enhancement," said Ni Lili, global product president of Trinasolar. "It reflects our long-term commitment to innovation, quality, and delivering customer value at scale."
