Critical digital infrastructure specialist Vertiv has acquired Waylay NV, a Belgium-based generative AI software company, as part of its continued investment in AI-driven monitoring and control technologies for power and cooling systems.

The acquisition, announced on 26 August, is designed to strengthen Vertiv's comprehensive portfolio of digital infrastructure solutions with AI-based infrastructure monitoring, predictive services, and performance optimisation capabilities.
Meeting growing AI demands
The move comes as AI workloads continue to drive strong growth in data centre demand, creating a need for intelligent, adaptive infrastructure. AI-based digital services for power and cooling systems have become essential to support the high-density, high-performance computing environments that power generative AI applications.
These services enable real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and dynamic optimisation of power and thermal performance – capabilities that Vertiv expects to deliver at scale through Waylay's advanced technology integration.
"With the addition of Waylay's technology and software-focused team, Vertiv will accelerate its vision of intelligent infrastructure – data-driven, proactive, and optimised for the world's most demanding environments," said Vertiv CEO Giordano Albertazzi. "We are excited about the operational efficiencies and the resilience that Vertiv's further augmented predictive capabilities can provide for our customers."
Advanced automation platform
Founded in 2014, Waylay has developed an AI-driven hyper-automation software platform that enables workflow-based automation, system integration, and orchestration across connected assets, enterprise applications, and cloud services.
The platform's capabilities include data analytics and orchestration scenarios that operate at unprecedented speed, significantly reducing the cost of integration and product deployment. The software can analyse real-time machine data, identify operational trends, and propose predictive actions designed to minimise downtime and improve system performance.
Strategic benefits
Vertiv expects the acquisition to strengthen its ability to help customers worldwide increase uptime, optimise energy usage, and enhance operational intelligence across their critical digital infrastructure. The integration positions the company to deliver advanced AI-driven capabilities that support the evolving demands of critical digital operations.
The NYSE-listed company (VRT) describes itself as a global leader in critical digital infrastructure, focusing on solutions that power, cool, and protect the vital applications that drive business operations.
