An Australian iron ore mine has placed an order for custom engineered and manufactured heavy duty vibrating screens from local company MBE Minerals. This is the latest in a number of orders coming from Australian mines for the South African produced screens.
According to Heinz Mittermaier, engineering manager at MBE Minerals, the South African OEM’s extensive experience in such applications on the African continent has allowed the company to optimise its screen design for use in demanding applications in the mining sector wherever the mines are situated.
The MBE Minerals screens being supplied are 2.4 x 4.5 metres and have been optimised for this iron ore operation. The design makes use of low power consumption for the movement of large masses, provided only by the resonance system. In addition to the already low power consumption of the vibrating screen, the life expectancy of the screen box has been improved by combining wear resistance components with the heavy duty screen structure.
The screens form part of an ongoing replacement cycle. “Those screens already supplied previously have proven successful in terms of throughput tonnages and operational reliability and the customer has chosen to continue with this optimised product,” Mittermaier says.
He adds that the company is proud of its ability to accurately interpret the specific needs of an individual customer and to meet these while being on a different continent.
MBE Minerals manufactures a wide variety of vibrating screens with sound mechanical features including vibration dampening, application specific cross members with optimised wear lining and the appropriate feed and discharge chutes. Screens can be of linear or circular motion design, and in single and double deck configurations.
