Capital Equipment News August 2016ON THE COVER: Every piece of equipment is as good as its backup service. Based on this approach, Hyster and its southern African dealer, Barloworld Handling, are upping their aftermarket stakes to enhance lift truck uptime and productivity, while lowering total cost of ownership for customers in the region.

Stocking well over 10 000 line items, Barloworld Handling already offers local customers 97% off-the-shelf availability of fast-moving parts and overnight delivery to most South African destinations.

Barloworld hyster parts This is complemented by Hyster’s new automated parts warehouse system which speeds up the processing of parts ordered from Nijmegen, Netherlands. For example, emergency orders placed before 2:00 am are now ready for shipment to Johannesburg by 05:00 am the following morning. Customers who often run highly-paced 24/7 operations, are thus able to rely on faster response times, improving their productivity and uptime.

Another added benefit is that local fleet owners are now also given access to Hyster’s Hypass parts service system, which enables them to check parts availability at Barloworld Handling and Hyster worldwide online.

IPD parts rev fleet operators’ performances

IPD partsEnterprising fleet operators are saving costs on their diesel engine parts by striking a delicate balance between quality and price, but these decisions have been guided by expert opinion that place plant availability right at the top of the agenda.

The current IPD product line offers wide and deep coverage for engines in the older CAT 300 series to the later CAT C series, allowing Metric Automotive Engineering, the exclusive African distributor of IPD, to supply critical componentry at a very competitive price.

Metric Automotive Engineering was appointed IPD’s distributor based on its long track record providing a quality engine rebuilding service to prominent fleet operators in the mining, construction and industrial sectors.

Leading electronic technology development for safer mines

Booyco electronicsHaving secured the foremost market position with its Pedestrian Detection System (PDS), Booyco Electronics has launched its fully integrated Asset Protection System (APS) for surface equipment.

Anton Lourens, managing director of Booyco Electronics, says that the APS represents latest generation technology and facilitates effective communication between surface vehicles. This technology will be showcased at Electra Mining Africa 2016.
