construction: road making
T
he design of the Highway Class machines impressed
and thrilled the jury of experts and renowned designers
from around the world. The iF label is an internationally
renowned seal of quality for outstanding design.
“As Vögele’s ‘dash 2’ generation had already won
the iF award in 2007, the bar was very high,” says
Ulrich Ewringmann, Dipl.-Designer (FH) (qualified
designer), design partner of Joseph Vögele AG and
Managing Partner of Dialogform GmbH. “With this
in mind, there was really only one possible objective:

Director at ThyssenKrupp Resource Technologies
AG’s cement division and leader of the VDMA’s
road show ‘Cement + Minerals’ delegation, “Brazil,
Peru and Chile are markets our industry needs to
pay more attention to – we definitely need to catch
up here.”
This road show was organised by the association
on Construction Equipment and Building Material
Machinery, which is part of VDMA, together with
seven of its member companies and was held in the
North American countries countries from May 2nd to
10th, 2013.
In 2012, Latin America represented 7.6 per cent of
all exports achieved by German manufacturers of
mining machinery (equalling €5.78 billion). With this,
these markets only ranked fifth among the biggest
export countries – following Russia, Australia, the US
and China. In Brazil especially, the entire economy,
but particularly the cement and minerals industry, is

to significantly increase this edge once again with

Good design focuses on people
Ergonomic design, operating safety, but also comfort,
pervade all elements of the design. Thus the machine
minimises the strain on operators during long, hard
working days, leaving them free to focus on operating
their machines safely and effectively.
To further simplify everyday work on the
job site and enhance safety, the user-
friendly ErgoPlus operating system has
gained some additional useful features:
ErgoPlus 3 has a redesigned four-
colour display with a high-contrast user
interface ensuring brilliant readability
even in poor lighting conditions. The
graphic user interface and all symbols
comply with the latest requirements
in respect of product design. Self-
explanatory symbols that are understood
in all languages allow the operator to
work intuitively.
What’s more, the driver’s seat and the
paver operator’s console, as well as the
screed consoles can now be adjusted
even more easily to the operator’s
needs. Side panelling affords effective
protection from the wind and rain.
