ore than 80 innovations were submitted in
15 different categories, to a jury of 50 local
company CEOs for GreenWorks recognition.
GreenWorks is a platform dedicated to companies that
are sensitive to the environmental impact of the modern
economy and national or international initiatives that
favour sustainable development.
The conference gathered 680 local and regional
company leaders, and Massimo Di Giacomo Russo, new
concept leader and part of the team who developed the
AMT technology, represented Goodyear at the summit.
The event opened with speeches by Marco Schanck,
deputy minister for sustainable development and
infrastructure; Kirsi Sormunen, vice president of corporate
responsibility for Nokia; and Marc Fossier, chief corporate
social responsibility officer for the France Telecom–
Orange Group.
In his opening speech, Marco paid tribute to the
diversity of the 51 companies competing for the
Luxembourg Green Business Awards, and shared that
all 81 projects had the common objective to achieve
active green development in Luxembourg. The deputy
minister also said that building a green economy was
not a luxury, but rather an opportunity to develop the
competitiveness of the companies.
Green Innovation
Award
Goodyear’s Air Maintenance Technology (AMT) was
recently distinguished with the Green Innovation
Award during the Luxembourg Green Business
Summit for its innovative performance in reducing
the carbon footprint.
Goodyear submitted two projects: AMT Technology and
the EfficientGrip AA concept tyre; both presenting a
reduced environmental impact through sustainability and
biodiversity in raw materials, energy efficient products and
manufacturing, as well as an environmentally conscious
end-of-life product disposal.
“This award values the many efforts the Goodyear
Innovation Centre* Luxembourg (GIC*L) team is doing
to reduce the carbon footprint with great technologies,”
said Jean-Pierre Jeusette, General Director GIC*L, while
congratulating the team.
“Such innovative technologies fit our objective to provide
customers with sustainable products, offering safety and
tyre care at the same time.”
More about AMT technology
AMT in the marketplace would enable tyres to remain
inflated atz optimum pressure without the need for any
external pumps or electronics. All components of the
AMT system, including the miniaturised pump, would
be fully contained within the tyre.
Whether a passenger vehicle or a commercial truck,
under-inflated tyres result in between a 2.5 percent
and 3.3 percent decrease in fuel mileage, according to
industry research. Properly inflated tyres also result in
lower emissions, longer tyre life, enhanced safety and
improved vehicle performance.
