Endress+Hauser Pyrotemp, supplier of a wide range of temperature
sensors and accessories, had a humble start as a one man business
in 1969 under the ownership of Edgar Haywood. In 1981 the business
was purchased by three friends – Melvyn Bellis, Denis Graham and
Willie van Zyl – who worked at Pyrotemp business from a garage in
their spare time. Today, this company is part of Endress+Hauser -
privately owned international instrumentation supplier!
Klaus Endress, chief executive officer, Endress+Hauser Group,
visited South Africa to attend the inauguration of Endress+Hauser
Pyrotemp, Benoni (Gauteng). At the inauguration, he discussed the
current status of Endress+Hauser – as well as the challenges that have
been faced along the journey of almost 60 years. Endress+Hauser
has been involved in South Africa for many years – the acquisition
of Endress+Hauser Pyrotemp occurred in 2007 – with the official
inauguration on 21 August 2012.
A sculpture, marking the inauguration of Endress+Hauser Pyrotemp,
was presented to the company’s general manager, Chris Gimson,
by Klaus Endress. The‘loyalty and responsibility’ sculpture has been
placed at Endress+Hauser companies all over the world.
