trucks in Motherwell,
Scotland, was abuzz recently as more than
100 Terex distributors and customers from
around the world gathered to find out more
about the global manufacturer’s earthmoving
machines. Attendees travelled from Africa,
Asia, France, Germany, Russia, Scandinavia
and the Middle East to see the manufacturing
facility where sheets of metal are transformed
into rigid and articulated dump trucks, some
of which have payloads of up to 100 tons.
During the event, visitors toured the facil-
ity – which has more than 60 years of expe-
rience in manufacturing trucks – where they
had the opportunity to see each stage of the
manufacturing process, from fabrication and
assembly to painting and quality checks.
General Manager of the facility, Paul Doug-
las, said: “Our truck operation was the first
business within Terex Corporation as it is
known today and it is one of the oldest manu-
facturers of rigid and articulated trucks. We
are, therefore, very proud of our heritage and

changes over the past few years in both the
development of our trucks and the factory, in-
cluding a recent US$5 million investment in
manufacturing equipment. This week was the
perfect opportunity for our customers to find
out more about the advancement of our truck
manufacturing business.”
At the event, delegates had the opportu-
nity to operate the TA300 and TA400 articu-
lated trucks and were also given walk-around
presentations on both articulated and rigid
trucks to help them understand the strengths
of the machines.
