The Sandvik MN220 continuous hard rock
mining machine is used for mechanical
cutting of mostly high value ore in low reef
applications. The reef miner operates in
undercutting mode which means that the
chipping process of material is directed to a
free surface enabling a relatively lightweight
machine to operate in high compressive
rock strengths. See page 18 for more on
mechanisation.
