10 years,
just the start!
A
number of editors have left their imprint on the
publication, each one taking the magazine to
the next phase of development.
Inheriting this publication just over four years
ago, has to rate as one of the most enjoyable
challenges I have faced in my career. I immediately
recognised the potential in it and embraced the task
of realising this potential, with gusto. The first thing
we did was re-design it, updating its look, followed
immediately by adding more ‘background’ stories
to complement the news happening in the industries
we covered.
Each year the magazine is tweaked and nudged
into a better format, from both content and look
and, gratifyingly, the readership has noticed and
responded positively.
Come 2009, TFL was due to run as a separate
magazine – no longer as a pull out – but in the wake
of the global meltdown, this was re-considered as
non-viable and we simply re-introduced it into the
body of the mag.
Since then, the ratio of transport, freight and logistics
(TFL) has grown significantly, as our loyal customer
base continues to support it and so this year, we
decided to make it a separate section in our new
look ‘tumble’ format, back-to-back with CEN.
So too, a couple of years ago, all the magazines in
Crown went digital to complement the print versions
and to keep up with the growing digital trend.
Crown also created a web page on LinkedIn with
members of staff signing up for this forum. To date,
CEN is regularly visited by people from around the
globe, so has our reputation grown.
I trust the last ten years have merely been the
foundation for the incredible future I see ahead
for CEN/TFL and its consistently growing customer
base. So thank you to all who have contributed to
its success over the past decade.
So, be informed and enjoy the read!
Ten years ago, Jenny Warwick, Publisher of
Crown Publications, saw a gap in the market for a
magazine to cover the capital equipment sector of
the mining and construction industries and, from
this concept, Capital Equipment News was born.
...on the flip side: TFL
