the raised light weight polished floors to the pods on ground floor.
The curve to the podium slab that ends along with the recesses
for the strip windows up to the commencement of the vertical gable
ends, formed part of the entire cast which was done in two sections
to try and achieve a seamless finishwith the least amount of construc-
tion joints possible.
The construction of the curved gable ends was achieved
by using custom-designed steel shutters fabricated to a length
of 2,47 m which comprised an external shutter with a floating
internal shutter.
Despite the challenges faced by all contractors, it has been reward-
ing to be involved in this landmark project. It is a unique building
that has innovative design features, captures the passing public’s
imagination and also enhances the skyline.
