Zoo by transporting the materials to the zoo. The material will be
utilised to fix, renovate and upgrade enclosures.
All possible steps were taken to reduce the implosion impact on
nearby residents, businesses, and the animals in Pretoria Zoo.
All residents and businesses were notified in person, that the im-
plosionwould takeplace and that the roads surrounding theMunitoria
Building would be closed on the day of the implosion.
On a technical level, before the implosion the building was
stripped down to a skeleton, leaving in place only concrete columns
– over 1 000 of them – and slabs.
