he project entails the design, build, finance, operation and
maintenance of a new head office accommodation on a public
private partnership basis. This iconic development is a public
private partnership between Imvelo Concession Company and the
Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA).
Imvelo Concession Company has appointed Aveng Grinaker-LTA
KerenKulaDEA JV as thedesign and construct subcontractor, while the
operations subcontractor (facilities management) has been awarded
to Imvelo Facilities Management.
The project includes the design and construction of the building
as well as the operation of the facility for 25 years. Construction of a
three storey office building including basement parking, ministerial
suites, conference facilities, with landscaped cafeteria areas totaling 44
539m
2
in size and taking into account energy reducingmeasures and
state of the art buildingmanagement systems tomaintain amaximum
overall energy consumption of 115 kWh/m
2
/annum.
Strict contractual requirements mean that the contractor has
to complete the project within a fixed price, fixed duration and to
deliver a building of highest quality. The building is required to meet
the requirements of a 4 star green building according to the GBCSA.
