McCloskey range takes off in SA
High Power Equipment (HPE) Africa, the sole southern African dis-
tributor for global crushing, screening and recycling equipment
manufacturer, McCloskey International, continues to gain market
share through the range.
HPE Africa McCloskey sales and marketing manager Alan
Straw confirms that the company’s range of equipment has been
well received in the African market. “We have hosted a number of
McCloskey open days, where we conducted demonstrations on
numerous equipment, including the McCloskey C38R recirculating
cone crusher. The C38R unit comes with several high-spec features
including an anti-spin system; load and material level monitoring; as
well as a fully-hydraulic push button and relief system.”
The company has sold 15 McCloskey machines across Africa
since becoming an official local distributor in January last year.
Straw credits the success of the range to the fact that the machines
are easily adaptable to the harsh African climate and terrain. “These
machines have been designed to withstand extreme variances in
terperatures and terrain for some of the most remote parts of the
world, and therefore have to be reliable, operator friendly and easy
to maintain,” he says.
Breakthrough compressor innovation
Atlas Copco’s innovative range of
GA VSD oil-injected screw com-
pressors, launched in April last
year, has now been extended to
37 kW.
The company is proud of its
pioneeredVSD, developed in 1994.
Variable-speed driven compres-
sors adapt the speed of the com-
pression element to match the
compressed air demand. Business
line manager for the Industrial Air
division, Charl Ackerman, points
out that for a standard VSD com-
pressor, this means an energy sav-
ing of 35% on average.
“The new, in-house developed VSD takes that figure even higher;
an integrated permanent magnet motor drives the VSD’s screw ele-
ments, realising energy savings of 50% on average, compared to
fixed speed models,”he says.“With 13%more compressed air output,
a VSD is even more efficient than its fixed speed counterpart, even at
full load.”
