A southern African construction group with a specific focus on infra-
structure development, Raubex, is steadily increasing its share of con-
struction and mining-related activities in the mining industry. In its

was established as a new division within
the Raubex Group Limited’s infrastructure
arm, Raubex Infra has built up a significant
order book that achieved all its objectives
for the past financial year, reporting an
operating profit of R3,7-million in its first
period of operations and a current order
book in excess of R1-billion.
With the company well entrenched in
the roads construction industry, Raubex
Infra was born out of a group vision to
create an infrastructure division that
specialises in other types of civil con-
struction. Raubex Infra offers multidisci-
plinary solutions in predominantly four
key operational areas: rail and rail-related
infrastructure; roads and earthworks
for mining infrastructure; fibre and GSM
telecommunications; and electrical and
alternative energy infrastructure. The
backbone of these services is the divi-
sion’s specialised capabilities in civil con-
struction, buildings and bulk earthworks.
“Raubex Infra provides a service that
is tailor-made to fit customers’ individual
projects,” Dirk Lourens, MD of Raubex
Infra, says. “We’re rapidly becoming
known for our ability to shift the boundar-
ies on niche projects with high time-con-
straints and difficult terrain, or projects
that are technically complex.”
The division is ISO 9001:2008 certified
and has started to work towards OHSAS
18001:2004 and ISO 14001:2004 certifica-
tion, which is expected to be granted dur-
ing the course of this year.

L&R Civils provided pipe reticula-

Construction established the road net-

necessary plant and equipment from
its Northern Cape base in Postmasburg.
Burma Plant Hire has served South
African industry for the past ten years,
offering a variety of equipment from
top manufacturers.
“With such broad-ranging ser-
vices available within the Raubex
Group, we were able to utilise all
our own resources, without hav-
ing to seek services from external
companies,” Badenhorst confirms.
“To support our increasing activi-
ties in the Northern Cape’s mining
industry, Raubex has established a
dedicated office in Kathu to offer a local
point of contact for all group services to
clients in the area:
