The Society for Automation
Instrumentation
Measurement and Control
(SAIMC) once again has
a strong presence at the
Process Expo. With the goal of
advancing the objectives of
the automation and instru-
mentation industries.
SAIMC is also officially
launching its exciting new SAIMC brand and dynamic
website.
SAIMC is committed to creating awareness about
engineering amongst young people as part of the
Engineering Council of South Africa’s Engenius pro-
gramme. Its fully kitted First Lego League trailer is taking
the fundamentals of engineering to schools and is on
display at the SAIMC stand. The SAIMC will accredit all
training courses held at the Process Expo free of charge –
an excellent incentive for earning some points during the
show. Visit Stand C9 to interact with the knowledgeable
SAIMC team about any industry issues or for assistance in

Chuck Carter, currently head of the
Fieldbus Centre at Lee College in
Baytown Texas, will be hosting a number
of Foundation Fieldbus sessions at the
Process Expo Training Academy. He has
extensive experience in Foundation
Fieldbus and Instrumentation and Process
in general. He was responsible for estab-
lishing one of the
first three (now there
are eight worldwide)
Foundation Fieldbus
Certified Training
Programs (FTCP). After
visiting his daughter and grandchildren
in South Africa in January 2013, and
also meeting with the IDX Academy in
Johannesburg, he saw the opportunity to
complete his long and distinguished car-
rier in technical training and consulting, by
relocating to South Africa, and helping to
create an African FTCP. He will join the IDX
Academy and also look to assist universi-
ties and technical colleges with updated
relevant technology training. A Foundation
Fieldbus Training schedule commencing in
July 2013 will be published before Process
Expo. As a person certified to offer all
levels of Foundation Fieldbus Training he
is well placed to get local
training off to a solid and
sustainable start. This
will be the fulfilment of
a process initiated by
the FFSAMC (Foundation
Fieldbus South African Marketing
Committee) and many years in the making.
