characteristics on unpaved roads. A thick
steel plate is fitted under the bumper to
protect the radiator.
The new chassis of the CF Construction
models has been developed for maximum
stiffness and superior driving characteristics
and offers ample room for the positioning
of components, such as loading crane
supports. The chassis has a Y-frame at the
front to create room for the new Euro 6
engines and the large cooling unit for low
fuel consumption.
Considerable attention has also been paid
to the installation of superstructures on
the vehicle. A good example is the Body
Attachment Method (BAM) that can be
ordered on the FAD 8x4 chassis and which
provides complete preparation for mounting
the most common tippers. This involves
fitting various brackets on the chassis ex-
factory and providing a specific hole pattern.
The new DAF CF Construction is available
as a three-axle rigid with an 8 and 9 tonne
front axle and a 19, 21 and 26 tonne
tandem, which makes the vehicle ideal
for use in the building sector and timber
industry. As a three-axle 6x4 tractor, the
CF Construction is exceptionally well suited
to special transport applications or for
transporting timber.
The 8x4 rigid provides the ideal base for
tipper or concrete mixer. With twin steer,
7.5, 8 or 9 tonne front axles, combined
with a 19, 21 or 26 tonne tandem, this rigid
provides a high design GVW of 32 to 44
tonnes. All models feature DAF’s renowned
double-drive eight-rod tandem, which is
characterised by its high roll stability and
large articulation (270 mm) for high off-
road mobility.
Power for the CF Construction is the 12.9
litre PACCAR MX-13 engine with ratings
of between 303 kW (412 hp) and 375
kW (510 hp) and the new 10.8 PACCAR
MX-11 engine with ratings of 210 kW (286
hp) and 320 kW (435 hp). The average fuel
consumption of the PACCAR MX-11 is up
TRANSPORT
to 3% lower than the already efficient 12.9
litre PACCAR MX-13 engine, and a weight
reduction of over 180 kg results in an even
higher payload.
The Construction version of the popular
LF has also been introduced into the
European market. The design of this
19-tonne construction truck shares a family
resemblance with the larger CF Construction
and includes all the features of the larger
unit. The LF Construction is powered by the
PACCAR 6.7 litre PX-7 engine with ratings
of between 164 kW (233 hp) and 231 kW
(314 hp). Having the smallest turning circle
in its class makes the LF Construction a
sought after vehicle for manoeuvring on
construction sites.
